An annual $1,500 award honoring the legacy of a beloved Kalamazoo blues legend — and investing in the next generation of musicians.
Bob Peters was a fixture on the Kalamazoo music landscape for decades — a gifted pianist, guitar player, and music historian who was beloved throughout the Southwest Michigan blues community.
A multi-talented artist and tireless champion of the blues, Peters left behind a legacy of music, art, and deep relationships that his family, friends, and loyal fans strive to keep alive. He passed away suddenly on March 13, 2010.
In 2013, the KVBA and the Peters Family joined forces to create a scholarship fund dedicated to his memory and musical legacy. A vision of keeping that passion alive and passing it along to future generations became the mission of the fund.
