Music plays such an important part in our lives. Most of us have a soundtrack for many of the most momentous events in our lives. We thank you for your generous support of the Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association as we keep the restorative, cathartic and celebratory notes of blues alive and thriving in Kalamazoo.
Our mission is to help educate, support, promote and preserve the rich history of this American art form.
This year, past board member Lynn Headapohl headed our “Blues in Schools” program. In this program she and other participants lead elementary students in an interactive presentation with music and conversations that allowed them to explore the roots and culture of the blues. While the sessions and performances offered lessons in humanities, art and music, these wonderful sessions can become a way for students to express themselves and share their stories. As they were learning about the rhythm, poetry and spirit of the blues, they were also learning something else quite valuable: how to engage positive channels of communication.
That’s the power of music.
And that’s the power you continue to help generate with your support of KVBA. We are grateful for your donations to keep blues alive throughout our community—but most especially as we reach and teach our children.
We ask you in this season of thankfulness and giving to consider a donation the to KBVA.
Your donation to KVBA will help us continue to bring to our community the music that bridges past and future, and that binds us one to another.
